How Our Online Classes Work:

Lectures are conducted very much like you would experience in a regular class. You will be able to listen to the lecture on your computer while notes are being displayed on your computer screen.  Classes are self-directed and structured to allow you to access the lessons and class materials at any time convenient to you.  Each week you will be given assignments that will help to integrate what you’ve learned into your own writing.

Description - Novel Writing I

This class shows you how to lay the proper foundation for writing a great work of fiction. You'll learn what questions you need to answer before you start to write. You'll learn which point of view to choose, what story telling options suit your story, and how traditional novels are structured. You'll also learn how to craft memorable characters, how to create an intriguing plot, and what elements you need in

order to hold a reader's interest.

Description - Novel Writing II

The Level II is an advanced class. It takes the elements learned in

the Level I class and concentrates on integrating them into a work of fiction. Students should be prepared to present their work in class

and be ready to critique the work presented by your instructor. The focus of this class is toward the completion of a project.  Lectures

will concentrate on all the elements essential for creating a

professional work of fiction.

Students often repeat Level II as they continue to develop projects.  The classes are structured so that students can keep learning,

writing, and improving term after term.

Note: The fact that you have written professionally (e.g. as a journalist, copywriter, or P.R. writer) does not mean you belong

in Level II.  You should first speak to the staff at The Writing Loft

to find out which class will benefit you most.
