“When I speak of writing, the image that comes first to my
mind
is not a novel, a poem, or a literary tradition; it is the person who
shuts himself up in a room, sits down at a table, and alone, turns
inward. Amid his shadows, he builds a new world with
words." -- Orhan Pamuk
I believe in the power of words, and for me, writing was the only
option for making a living. I had a son to raise and I wanted to stay
home to raise him. I relentlessly focused on my goal and within three

industry, and the process, but I was also unswerving--if it is a skill
that could be learned, then I could learn it. I did everything and
anything I could to learn the craft.

recognizing that all occupations have some level of skill that must be
learned, writing is no different. Here are some of the things I have
written throughout the years.
